How do I apply for Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)?

RPL is the acknowledgement of a person’s skills and knowledge acquired through previous training, work or life experience.

RPL recognises any prior knowledge and experience and measures it against the Unit of Competency or Unit of Study the student is enrolled in, if successful in their application the student may not need to complete all of a training program as they already possess some of the competencies within the qualification. If the applicant meets all of the competencies it can lead to a full qualification being awarded.

The applicant needs to:

  • Request the relevant Self-Assessment form by emailing with details of the subject or competency required
  • Complete the self-assessment process as outlined on the Self-Assessment Form
  • When completed, keep a copy of the self-assessment for their own record
  • Email the completed Self- Assessment Form to
